Inca came to us via my cousin whilst we were still researching the breed. I was rung by my cousin to say he had just bought a malamute puppy and did we want to come and see her. We didn’t need asking twice !!!
Off we went and we were shocked to see this 7 week old puppy who was cowered in a corner and was ridden with fleas and obviously not very well. Anyway without going into too much detail we took her home with us and got her on the road to recovery. She is nearly 4 now and is still on constant medication and will be the rest of her life. She has a disease of the intestines and whilst she has some good days she also has days when she is not so good. Despite all this her temperament is lovely.
It came to light that Inca was purchased from a “puppy farmer” someone who had not carried out any health tests on their dogs and had raised the litter in a garage purely for profit without any regards to the breed standard or code of ethics.
Inca is lucky that we are able to afford the medical attention she needs; other puppies from these “puppy farmers” are not so lucky and don’t make adulthood for one reason or another.
Please please do not line the pockets of these people ruining our magnificent breed and buy only from a reputable breeder. A reputable breeder will have done all the health checks and have the certificates to show you. You should be able to see the dam and the sire and the puppies should all be alert, healthy and clean. The breeder will also be there for you all through your dogs life and will take the dog from you if your circumstances change. If a breeder cannot do any of the things mentioned then walk away and look elsewhere.
Thank you.

Josh is now 15 years old and still acts like a puppy. He is Inca's best friend and they go everywhere together. Even at his age he will still bring home the odd pheasant and rabbit and his favourite hobby is bringing hedehogs back with him . We have to then put the hedgehogs in a bucket and take them back to the field. Josh never tires of this game.
He is the only dog we have in the house that actually alerts us if anyone is at the front door or outside the gate as the mals would just lie there and let anyone in. He is a soppy old thing and loved very much by us and the mals.
